Barry Douglas Chaussee

Barry Douglas Chaussee, 86, of Loves Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 12, 2022, in his home, surrounded by family. Born June 4, 1935, in Dickinson, North Dakota, the son of John B. and Leola May (Allen) Chaussee. Graduated from Harlem High School, Class of 1953, where he excelled in basketball and football. Veteran of the United States Army 3rd Armored Division, serving from 1958 to 1960, where he was based in Germany. Barry was employed as a glazer for 40 years. He was a member of Rockford Glazers Union Local 1355, where he was a past president and business agent, and a member of Chicago Glazers Local 27. After retiring, Barry and his wife, Lorraine, divided their time between their homes in Loves Park and Jupiter, Florida. They enjoyed fishing, watching Notre Dame football, and playing with their grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Lorraine, formally Pastuska; his children, John Chaussee of Dallas, Texas, Jeff (Darrell Hofheinz) Chaussee of West Palm Beach, Florida, Mark (Tina) Chaussee of Rockford, Illinois, and Mary Chaussee of Miami, Florida; 7 grandchildren, Dane Chaussee, Savannah (Shanker) Patel, Meredith Chaussee, Madeleine (Mark) Dombrowski, Shane (Allyssa) Clappsaddle, Jacob (Sarah) Clapsaddle, and Noah Hedin; 3 great-grandchildren, Ava and Aidan Patel, and Annie Clappsaddle; and sister, Shirleen Humpal, Rockford. Predeceased by his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2022, in St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to service time.
