Betty Elaine Swanson

Betty Elaine Swanson, 94, of Loves Park was promoted to Glory on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. Born July 14, 1927, in Rockford, the daughter of Robert and Inez (Nyman) Larson. Married Floyd D. Swanson on August 28, 1948, in Rockford. Member of the Salvation Army Church. Employed as a secretary by the Harlem School District, working at Maple Elementary and Loves Park Elementary Schools. Elaine enjoyed bowling, golfing, and was a lifelong Cubs fan. She volunteered at the Salvation Army where she played piano for the Sunday School Primary Department. Elaine was also a Girl Scout leader and delivered Meals on Wheels. Survivors include her children, Larry Swanson, Jack Swanson, and Kathy (Todd) Ott; grandchildren, Erik (Lana) Peterson, Adam (Danielle) Peterson; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Grace, Ryker, Kyrie, and Jovie; numerous nieces and nephews; best friend, Marion Wicklund. Predeceased by husband; siblings, Alice Pellant, Burdett Larson, and Willard Larson; daughter-in-law, Brenda Foley.

Service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022, in Salvation Army Rockford Temple Corps, 500 South Rockford Ave., with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Salvation Army. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park.
