Gloria Mary Shelton, 87, of Rockford, IL, passed away Friday, December 23, 2022. Born September 16, 1935, in Pacolet, S.C., the daughter of Carl Alonzo and Lucy (Brackins) Yount. Married Gerald B. Shelton, Sr., on February 22, 1952, in Greeneville, TN. Gloria loved spending time with family, reading, crossword puzzles, sewing, crocheting and trips to Tennessee. Survivors include her sons, Gerald (Barbara) Shelton, Jr., and Bill (Ann) Shelton; grandchildren, Christopher Shelton, Lindsey Shelton (Andrew) Craycraft, Kelly Shelton, Jordyn Shelton, Amanda Shelton, and Jennifer (Bob Walton) Cacciapaglia; great-grandchildren, Bella, Sammy, Blakely, Sawyer, Arielle (Jake) Keltner, and Nikolas Bruno; sister, Linda Helen (Carroll) Dixson; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; husband; daughter, Lucy Shelton; four brothers; one sister.
Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial at 11 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2023, in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
