John Paul Teakell, 77, of Rockford, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, September 8, 2022. Born May 31, 1945, in Denver, Colorado, son of Weldon A. and Vera I. (Kenny) Teakell. Married Christine Shaffer on June 23, 1967, in Magnolia, Ohio. Member of North Love Baptist Church. He was a deacon at Lancaster Baptist Church in California for over 30 years. John loved serving the Lord with the church and spending time with his family. He enjoyed watching all sporting events. Survivors include his wife, Christine of Rockford; children, David (Alicia) Teakell of Brooklyn, NY, Deborah Teakell of Rockford, and Dawn (Matthew) Warthan of Murfreesboro, TN; 7 grandchildren, Stephen, Andrew, Karlynn, Micah, Morgan Warthan, Viviana Teakell and Alejandro Teakell; sister, Eunice Teakell of Naperville; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and one sister, Mary (Dorsey) Davisson. Special thanks to North Love and Lancaster Baptist Churches for their love and support.
Services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2022, in North Love Baptist Church, 5301 Riverside Blvd., Rockford, with a visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial in Argyle Scottish Cemetery. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park.
