Obituary for Jonathon "Jon" Bailey

Jonathon “Jon” Dean Bailey

Jonathon “Jon” Dean Bailey, 26, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022. On this day, the world lost the brightest light, the biggest smile, and the most contagious laugh when Jonathon left this world. He was born December 28, 1995, in Rockford, IL, the son of Phillip “Phil” and Belinda (Fletcher) Bailey. Throughout his journey along this path of life Jonathon experienced wonders of this world. He took a solo trip out west which he described as the most meaningful trip of his whole life, even though it ended with a broken ankle. He was an adventurer through and through. He found his place of peace amongst the trees, along the trails, and on the water. He found his joy in nature and the natural beauty that surrounds us every day. This is where his family and friends will find their connection to Jonathon in the days and years to come. Among the stars, the trees, the leaves falling, and the trails yet to be explored. Jonathon was every good thing this Earth has to offer. A pure heart, gentle soul, friend to all, and a lifelong learner. Jonathon's journey down life's trail may have come to an end too soon, but those of us that knew him know his story hasn't ended. Every step we take, leading with our warm left foot, every sunset we absorb, every drop of rain we dance in, he is with us. Jonathon is survived by his loving parents, Phil and Belinda Bailey; sister, Megan (Bailey) Crain (James Crain-Diehl); nephew, Jackson Sorensen; niece, Maia Crain; uncle, Timothy Bailey of AZ; the love of his life, Kaitlin Grant; insightful and loving godmother, Joni Stanfa of CA; god-daughter, Araina Husolo; loving turtle, T-Mack; and he also leaves behind a huge list of siblings not by blood but by choice that without his life wouldn't have been the same, Arron Stricker, Nate Watkins, Alex Doe, and Sebastian Danelwaflewitz, just to name a few. Ladies we didn't mean to leave you out, but you know as well as we do the list would be a mile long if we listed each of you. Jonathon is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ronald and Patricia Bailey, John and Mildred Fletcher; uncle, Buddy Mark Fletcher; and beloved kitty, Bella.

Celebration of Life will be at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane Loves Park, IL, with visitation from 5:30 p.m. to service time. Cremation rites accorded. To honor the way Jonathon chose to live his life with vibrance and color, the family is requesting, if you own it, please wear your favorite tye dye. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
