Kathryn A. “Kathy” Peterson
Kathryn A. “Kathy” Peterson, 67, of Rockford, was a caring, loving, one-of-a-kind, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2022, after a short illness, surrounded by her family and husband of 41 years. Kathy was born October 6, 1954, in Rockford. She was the second of seven children of Oris and Carolyn (Korte) Conness. Kathy loved her large family and was happiest when everyone was together. She was an active member of her lifelong parish, St. Bridget Catholic Church. There she married Steven Peterson on September 27, 1980. Kathy had many passions. She loved sewing, gardening, trips with her friends, the Chicago Bears, baubles, and being a grandma. She took pride in the great care she took for her mother and sister, Linda. Even though Kathy went to heaven too soon, she lived an extraordinary life surrounded by people who adored her. Kathy is survived by her husband, Steve; proud mom to son, Mark (Claire) Peterson; “Grandma Kath” to Emma and Nolan; loving sister to Mary Blume, Jean (Randy) Marsala, Dan Conness, Donald (Sarah) Conness, and Linda Conness; aunt to numerous nieces and nephews; close friend to Vicky Goeddeke, Cindy Snowdon, Cheryl Toedte, and Becky Hoffman. Kathy was predeceased in death by her parents and brother, David Conness.
Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2022, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2022, in St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park. Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Bridget Catholic Church.
