Mary J. Nordquist, 89, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023. Born August 11, 1933, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Alvin D. and Marion L. (Spielman) Daniels. Graduated from West High School, Class of 1951. Married Eugene G. “Gene” Nordquist on February 14, 1953, in Rockford, IL. Formerly employed by Union Hall, Bergner’s, and Walgreens. Member of North Park Covenant Church in Machesney Park, where she was treasurer and active for many years. Mary enjoyed playing bingo and word puzzles. Survivors include her son, Douglas Nordquist; daughter, Suzanne Terrana; son-in-law, Michael Freeman; grandchildren, Michelle (Scott) Kamholz, and Nikki Chilson; great-grandson, Noah Wigton, and Joseph Chilson. Predeceased by her parents; husband; daughter, Nancy Nordquist-Freeman; daughter-in-law, Doreen Nordquist; and best friend, Connie Hendershott. The family wishes to thank Pro Medica Hospice for their love and care.
Service at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL, with visitation from 10:30 a.m. to service time. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
