Mildred Clark

Mildred Clark, 73, of Rockford, IL, died in Christ on Saturday, October 15, 2022. Born Mildred Slocum on September 8, 1949, in Tie Plant, AR, the daughter of Arthur and Sureather (Howell) Slocum. She graduated from Scipio A. Jones High School in North Little Rock, AR, Class of 1967, and from Job Corps, Class of 1968. She married Eddie Clark on September 1, 1973, in Rockford. She started her career at Warner Lambert in August of 1969, and retired from the company in August of 2013, later named Mondelēz International. She loved her plants, gardening, gospel music, and serving God in the church. Sometimes her evenings were spent watching sports and the TV show Survivor. She also enjoyed traveling and had visited Jamaica, France, England, Japan, and others. “A mother like you is rare, one that’s so generous, smart, and kind. A mother like you is what everyone needs, full of smiles and laughter, always doing great deeds. Nothing can replace a mother like you, but when you get to heaven, God will be lucky to have you too.” Mildred leaves behind her children, Angela M. Clark of San Antonio, TX, Eric (Angela Brizant) Clark of Blue Island, IL, Alexus Clark of Rockford, IL; sisters, Bernice Henderson, Arnice (Thomas) Hartaway, Mary (Jeremiah) Legs, and Loretta Williams; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Eddie Clark; brothers, Arthur Slocum, Jr., Willie James Slocum, and Carl Edward Slocum; and sister, Wanda Slocum.

Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022, at North Park Church of Christ, 7620 Elm Avenue, Machesney Park, IL, with visitation from 9 a.m. to service time. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Loves Park, IL.
