Paul Gerald Kort, 97, of Freeport, IL, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023, in his home. Born September 30, 1925, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Fred H. and Irma C. (Lange) Kort. Graduated from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA, receiving a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and a Master of Science in organic chemistry. Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army obtaining the rank 2nd Lieutenant as a B-17 Flying Fortress navigator. Married Alberta Taylor on November 22, 1952. Married Myrta Olson on March 7, 1989. Employed as industrial chemist retiring from M C Products of Rockford, IL, after 45 years. Survivors include his children, Richard Kort of Freeport, Gerald (Mika) Kort of New Berlin, WI, Roger Kort of Freeport, and Kathryn (Larry) Howell of Marion, IL; grandchildren, Kimberly Kort of Freeport, Jennifer Kort of Freeport, Jeremy Lower of Leaf River, IL, Angela (Brett) Bardon of O’Fallon, MO, David Kuntz of Milwaukee, WI, Monique (Tony) Ingrilli of New Berlin, and Michelle (John) Arend of New Berlin; great-grandchildren, Taylor Bardon of O’Fallon, Isabella, Gabriella, and Tony Ingrilli, all of New Berlin; brother, Robert Kort of Platteville, WI. Predeceased by his parents; wives; and brother, Merlin Kort. The family wishes to thank FHN Hospice for their loving care and compassion of our father.
