Obituary for Russell "Russ" Whittington

Russell “Russ” Edward Whittington, 68, of Loves Park passed away Friday, February 4, 2022, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center.  Born September 25, 1953, in Rockford, the son of Cornelius E. and Anna Mae (Green) Whittington.  Veteran of the U.S. Air Force.  Married Barbara L. Schrack on May 24, 1980, in Machesney Park.  Retired from Rocknell Fastner after 18 years.  He loved golfing, fishing, watching the Bears, working on his house, yard, going on vacations, camping with family, and being with his friends and family.  He had a kind spirit that never judged people for who they are.  If you needed help, he was there.  Russ had a great sense of humor and was a natural comedian.  Survivors include his daughter, Holly Whittington; granddaughter, Laura Dawson; mother, Anna Mae Whittington; mother-in-law, Rose Schrack; brothers, Ed (Patricia) Whittington, Ronald (Virginia) Whittington, Mitch (Karen) Whittington, and Raymond (Kaaron) Chamberlain; sisters-in-law, June Schrack; brother-in-law, Dale Schrack; numerous nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his father; wife; son, Brandon; sister, Linda; father-in-law, Bob Schrack; and brothers-in-law, Rex Schrack.

A Celebration of Life will be at a later date.  Private entombment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park.  Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane Loves Park.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
