Obituary for Shirley "Scheidegger" Spilmon

Shirley M. Spilmon

Shirley M. Spilmon, 94, of Byron, IL, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022, at Generations at Neighbors. Born March 13, 1928, in Davis, IL, the daughter of Conrad and Ethel (Haas) Scheidegger. Shirley married Samuel “Sam” B. Spilmon on February 10, 1950, in Rockford, IL, and they shared a wonderful life together. Growing up she was lucky to be raised by her two amazing sisters. In later years every Wednesday was reserved for a sister’s lunch date. Shirley loved music. She began singing when she was young and was part of a trio that sang on WGN radio. She loved the years she spent as a piano teacher. Shirley taught generations of families. Shirley and Sam would decorate the house for each holiday and at the front door they had a cart with holiday candies and goodies for her students and their families. Every year she would host the students piano and singing recitals. Shirley was a member of the Vince Chiarelli Band and Vincent Records for over 40 years. She was the keyboardist and backup singer for the Vince Chiarelli Band and wrote the most beautiful lyrics to an unbelievable list of songs to match the music Vince Chiarelli wrote. Survivors include numerous loving relatives. Predeceased by her parents and husband.

As per her request, no services. Cremation rites accorded. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL. In lieu of flowers.
