Thomas “Tom” Cyrille Cannell

Thomas “Tom” Cyrille Cannell, 72, of Roscoe, IL, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, in his home. Born May 25, 1950, in Rockford, IL, the son of Thomas and Cecilia (Maes) Cannell. He was blessed with almost 50 years of marriage to Sheri (Lee). Tom started his cooking career at Hollywood Wayside, moving to Portage, WI, to run a Hollywood Dining Center there for 14 years. While in Portage, Tom played on a baseball league, was part of a bowling league, was President of Kiwanis, and was Master of Masons. In 1992 he opened Sheri’s Place in Rockford operating the business for 30 years. He loved chatting with his many customers that became friends. Member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, attending with his mom on Saturday nights for many years. He also enjoyed attending Grace Lutheran Church with his family. He loved helping pack lunches for the Rockford Rescue Mission on Saturday mornings. He was Scoutmaster for Pack 411. In his spare time, Tom loved watching his grandchildren play soccer, tennis, baseball, wrestle, and basketball. Going to Rock Cut to hike, fish, or just be with his family was one of his favorite things to do.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Sheri; the children he was so proud of, Char and husband, Steve, Tricia, Tommy and wife, Erin; he was lucky enough to have 9 grandchildren who loved spending time with their Bopa: Kirstin, Kylee, Isabella, Nikolas, Blake, Parker, Abi, Ethan, and Logan; godson, Chad; siblings-in-law, Karen, Teresa, and Rob; sisters, Debbie and Mary; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; and -in-laws, Carl and Pat Lee.

Memorial visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2023, in Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL, with rosary recited at 7:15 p.m. Memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Grace Lutheran Church, 343 Grand Avenue, Loves Park, preceded by visitation from 10:30 a.m. to service time. Cremation rites accorded. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
