W. Michael Stone, 58, of Madison, WI, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022, in University of Wisconsin Hospital. Born Sunday, April 12, 1964, in Boonville, MO, the son of William M. and Carole L. (Saunders) Stone. Married Gwen Leaich on February 29, 1992. Employed by Woodward Governor and Sub Zero as a software developer. Mike was a loving husband and father. He loved camping and boating with the Rockford Power Squadron. Active with the Boy Scouts of America for over 20 years. A serious geek and diehard Trekkie, he loved computers, was one of the first hackers, and even wrote programs for Amtrak. He served as a volunteer firefighter with Loves Park Fire Department in his younger days. Survivors include his wife, Gwen; daughter, Rebecca; son, Kevin; mother, Carole McGee; sister, Janice (Bud) Betts; brother-in-law, Aaron (Charlene) Leaich; special cousins, Jay Black, Bill Black, and Joe Carter; four nieces; and faithful feline companions, Stevie, and Scottie. Predeceased by his father.
Service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2022, in Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL, 61111, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials to Boy Scouts of America.
